Abandonment: Cameron Dairy Ranch - Tehachapi, California

1956 Chevy Bel Air At Cameron's Dairy - Tehachapi, California
The Cameron Dairy Ranch had been closed for a long time when a wildfire destroyed it in July of 2012. There are two structures on the ranch--a house that's over 100 years old and a workshop. There may have been other buildings once upon a time, but they're long gone now.

The house and the workshop are burnt empty shells. The fire destroyed most of them. There's also a 1956 Chevy Bel Air (at least that's what I've been told it is) that got destroyed by the fire. I have no idea what its condition may have been before being burned.

The house is surrounded by a chain-link fence that was constructed after the fire. There's also a travel trailer parked on the property--I'm not sure if it is empty or if a caretaker lives inside of it. There's a gate with a no trespassing sign on it.

A small dirt road veers off and allows access to the non-fenced portion, including the car and the workshop. Inside of the workshop are a bunch of old tools and mechanical parts--lots of rusted metal junk. I did not see any signs warning not to trespass on this part of the property.

The Cameron Dairy Ranch is located along Highway 58. Those familiar with this area know it for the "S.S. Minnow" boat that sits on the property. Access is from "the old highway" that parallels the freeway.

These photographs were captured using a Nikon D3300 DSLR with a Nikkor 40mm AF-S DX f/2.8G Micro lens attached to it. I post-processed them using Alien Skin Exposure 7 software. I converted them to black-and-white because color was not important to any of them.
